  Hi,
  Thanks for your question. I am currently working on identifying the genes that cause depression. Once these genes have been identified we then need to work out what biological process is affected by them. This should help inform the types of antidepressant medication that are developed and ultimately prescribed. So one day you might be able to take someone’s DNA and work out what is the best treatment for them, which is also likely to include additional support and/or counselling to ensure the best outcomes.
