The database I’m currently using, known as UK Biobank, has genetic data on just over 500,000 people as well as lots of information about people’s health and personalities. The initial cost of setting this database up was £62 million.

I get most of my DNA sequences from GenBank this is a huge database which in February of this year had 564286852 whole genome sequences in it. Due to the increasing number of sequences being generated this database also doubles in size around 18 months. This database is completely free to use and download data and it vital for most of our research.
