• Question: Hello Matt! I would just like to ask you a question. Was there one particular teacher, maybe at school, which inspired you to study genes?

      Hi – this is Gemma as the question came to me! The answer is yes – I had a great Chemistry teacher for all seven years of secondary school. She was new when I started in Year 7, it was her first job and she was obviously passionate about doing a good job. She put in so much work to make our lessons interesting, and knew each of our strengths and weaknesses and worked with us to help us each be as successful as possible. I used to mess about in a lot of other lessons, but not in Chemistry as it was interesting and challenging and I had a lot of respect for her commitment to teaching us well.
