I loved taking part in I’m a Scientist, Get Me Out of Here, and the format was so much fun to be involved in. The mix of science- and career-based questions along with those of a rather more off-beat nature kept it feeling dynamic and enjoyable. There were some excellent questions relating to ethics and the future of science and thanks to all the teachers and students who took the time to interact with us. I really hope you got as much out of the experience as we all did and I would definitely recommend others to take part.
I still can’t believe that I managed to win the Genes Zone as there was some very strong competition from some amazing scientists. It was great getting to know my fellow scientists during the chats and hopefully we will meet up in real life at some point. Finally, a massive thanks to the team working behind the scenes to bring I’m a Scientist to life and thanks to the funders for making it all possible.
The winner gets some prize money that can be spent on science communication and I am planning to promote the lesser known careers that are available in science. My current boss has offered to match the money which is great news as it will allow me to do it even bigger and better.
